Kristin Shepherd, M.D., F.A.A.P.
Words by Dr. Karen Prentice
Dr. Kristin Shepherd has been my friend and business partner for the past 14 years. She never ceases to amaze me! Not only is she a full-time pediatrician, wife, and the mother of not one, not two, but eight children: four grown step-sons, an “adopted” grown nephew, and three younger children-2 boys and a girl-12, 10 and 9 years old. Dr. Shepherd loves spending time with her family and keeping them active (this is just her ploy to wear them out so they don’t drive her crazy!) She loves running with her younger ones and playing pick-up football or basketball with the entire crew-I guess that works since they have enough for two teams! She is often found carting the little ones to wrestling and jujitsu. When they are not busy with organized sports, she keeps them busy with church activities, playing outside, hiking, going to pumpkin patches and just having good family time. Her goal with her kids is good quality family time and limiting media and electronics as much as possible (which isn’t easy in this day and age).
Dr. Shepherd is not only a board certified pediatrician practicing general pediatrics, but she has a special interest in wellness, safety, and prevention. Her particular passions include: parenting classes, babyproofing classes, safety classes for children and teens, internet safety, drug and alcohol awareness, and childhood development. She also enjoys helping children and teens suffering from anxiety and depression utilizing Integrative Medicine approaches.
